On 7th May 2026 the GBC Ladies Association in collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Division organized a Mother’s Day Breakfast Meeting to celebrate hard working mothers. The meeting was on the theme “Motherhood: Stewardship that shapes the next generation” and in attendance were retired staff of GBC Ladies, sister Ladies Associations (SIC, CLOSSAG, Fire Service) and serving staff.
STEWARDSHIP THAT SHAPES THE NEXT GENERATION
In her remarks as Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. I. Stella Agyenim- Boateng noted that a mother is not one who biologically births a child but also anyone who cares and nurtures a child. She added that mothers as stewards had the responsibility of raising children into adulthood for the benefit of society and nation. She encouraged all mothers to stand for what is right cautioning that children reflect what they see adults do


Mrs. Faith Awuah, President of the GBC Ladies Association, in her speech reiterated that mothers had a duty to nurture the next generation. She stated that God had empowered mothers with all the resources to train the next generation. She charged mothers to raise the future by taking advantage of all resources at their disposal.
The Director-General of GBC, Prof Amin Alhassan in a short address emphasised the importance of mothers and how they are taken for granted because they seem to always be available. He added that the role of mothers are invaluable and should be acknowledged more.

This was followed by presentations on will preparation, investment and work/life balance focusing on menopause.
Lawyer Lisa Acquah educated attendees on the importance of will preparation and the advantage it puts one’s loved ones after death. Investment expert, Joan Ohiozio Avevor encouraged attendees on the need to invest in order to secure their future and that of their loved ones. She stressed that insurance policies are essential and important in this regard.
Dr. Hafsat Abass, a medical practitioner, touched on pre- menopausal symptoms and steps to take in order to care for oneself. She cautioned that it was only in extreme cases of symptoms that medication is prescribed. She also encouraged organisations to be sensitive to women during this phase of their lives and make room to accommodate them to allow for productivity.
The questions and answer section was very informative and deeper insights were gleaned from all the topics given. Past executives of the GBC Ladies Association were presented with parcels while Madam Gloria Laryea, the immediate past president was honoured with a citation for her exceptional commitment during her tenure.
The event ended on a high note with cake cutting amidst music, dance and socialisation.
