• Technical Expertise:

Before his elevation to the role of Deputy Director-General, Ing. Yamson served as the Director of Engineering at GBC. His deep understanding of broadcasting infrastructure has been essential to the corporation’s transition from analogue to digital systems.

• Operational Oversight:

He frequently represents the corporation in a “Deputy Chief Executive” capacity, conducting regional tours to monitor the efficiency of GBC’s district and regional stations, such as Krachi Radio and Radio Upper West.

• Acting Director-General:

On several occasions, including in 2019, he served as the Acting Director-General before the substantive appointment of Prof. Amin Alhassan, ensuring institutional stability during leadership transitions.

• Modernization of Infrastructure:

A primary focus of his tenure has been the replacement of obsolete equipment. He has spearheaded efforts to modernize transmitters across all regional capitals to ensure GBC remains competitive in a rapidly evolving media industry.

Ing. Yamson is a strong advocate for GBC’s “Bureaucracy to Business” transformation. He consistently encourages staff to develop winning sponsorship strategies and human-centered programming to increase the corporation’s internally generated funds.

• Digital Transformation:

He has been a key driver in the corporation’s move toward Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), ensuring that GBC’s nationwide coverage is maintained through modern technology rather than traditional satellite dishes.

He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an Executive MBA from the same institution.
